This section of the website showcases my more emotionally charged figurative paintings. Each piece explores an aspect of the theme ‘relationships’: both with myself and my own vulnerability; and with others, creating an intriguing dialogue between characters.

 

My women are portrayed as strong, but at the same time thoughtful and somewhat reserved. They reassert their power on the viewer through an underlying self-assurance and attitude, shown in their confident poses, strong lines, and bold colours.

 

Many in my cast of characters blur the borders of race, gender and sexuality, mirroring the way my painting style moves fluidly between orientalism, primitivism and expressionism.
